The Sweepster writes about cognitive dissonance. I believe one source is all the "things we're not supposed to talk about" -- rigged elections, ufos, central banks' influence on history, state-sponsored assassinations-- all the things that are generally dismissed without analysis as "conspiracy theories". How can we as a community evaluate such stories. Clearly the supposed "scientific standard" of reproduce-ability doesn't apply to ufology (or to other sciences of economics and astronomy where events can't be reproduced). Perhaps legal system's rules of evidence can be used to discern?
